Our Story

Maroon Visions is a new production shingle founded by National Book Award-winning author, MacArthur “Genius” Grant recipient, and leading scholar Dr. Ibram X. Kendi. It is under a first-look deal with Boat Rocker, an independent, integrated global entertainment company. Maroon Visions develops scripted, unscripted, and kids & family projects, building on Dr. Kendi’s written work and his film and television projects in production. Maroon Visions creates content that supports global efforts to escape the fetters of inequity and injustice, freeing humans to find clarity about their world, joy within their world, and communion across worlds of difference.

Named for the formerly enslaved people of African descent who formed islands of free communities amid vast seas of enslavement in the Americas, Maroon Visions believes a truly free human community is within reach if humans can boldly imagine it.
